Friday all day and throughout the evening the Carnival Committee and loyal band of helpers struggled through the wind and rain to get Bailey Park ready for Carnival Day, and on the day THE SUN SHONE BRIGHTLY!!! The Carnival Procession went without a hitch and a great day was had by all. The Spectacular Knights of the Crusades mesmerized the crowd with their mysterious theatre, Abergavenny Gymnastics Display were fantastic, Corky the Clown entertained throughout the afternoon as did live bands and musicians, and the Climbing/Abseiling Wall was a great success.
Friday and Saturday evenings saw Visions in Glass Youth Theatre Group perform "Buddy -The Buddy Holly Story" to big audiences and to rave reviews.
Sunday unfortunately the heavens opened with a vengeance and our Beach Party was forced indoors at the Hen & Chicks, But nonetheless it went ahead and was thoroughly enjoyed by all who attended.
Quiz Nite and Karaoke Nite have become regular popular events during Carnival Week and were well attended.
Wednesday saw a new event - the Pub Treasure Hunt. This was a great success and is to be repeated next year. No less than 12 teams entered, and it was won by the team from the Hen & Chicks. Well done ladies!
Thursdays event at St. Michael's Centre, The New Harmony Singers supported by Visions in Glass was a lovely evening though a disappointing attendance.
The week concluded with Carnival Presentation Evening at the Labour Club with "Buddy and the Criquettes" and "Skool of Rock" performing live, followed by AM Disco. A great evening was had by all and a fitting end to a very successful 2007 Carnival Week.
