Hot air failed to warm councillors
Abergavenny Chronicle - 6 February 2003
MONMOUTHSHIRE county councillors donned shawls and scarves (despite the heated discussions) at a recent
meeting of the authority, to protest at falling temperatures in the council chamber at County Hall, Cwmbran.
“I’m absolutely fed up of sitting in the cold making decision on serious matters,” said Councillor Verona Bamford.
“According to Heath and Safety guidelines the temperature in any room where people should be sitting for
more than an hour has to be more than 18 degrees and it’s been getting colder and colder in this chamber,” she said.
“The temperature is not what it should be and its the chairman’s responsibility to ensure that it is,” added
Councillor Graham Powell.
