Police investigate ‘audacious’ theft at Crickhowell

POLICE at Crickhowell are appealing for witnesses to a number of thefts that took place recently in the area. Overnight on Tuesday June 1, the Water Treatment Works at Crickhowell as targeted.

A police spokesman said, “In an audacious attack on the premises thieves used a dumper truck to force open a steel container, subsequently stealing a large amount of tools.

“These include a 14 ins Wacker plate, a petrol cement mixer, numerous power saws, a nine ins angle grinder, a three ins air poker and various other general building tools.”

On Tuesday June 8 thieves attempted to steal a trailer at Cyffredyn Lane, Llangynidr. The incident happened at approximately midday, and police wish to trace the driver of a red/maroon and silver/white coloured 4wd vehicle, which was seen in the area at the time.

Overnight on Wednesday June 9 a De Walt Mitre saw and Atlascopco hammer drill were stolen from an unoccupied property at Station Road, Talybont on Usk.

The spokesman added, “We are advising the public to be vigilant and to ensure trailers and sheds are securely locked. Building sites have proved vulnerable and operators should ensure suitable crime prevention measures are implemented.” Anyone with information on any of the incidents is urged to contact Crickhowell Police on 01873 810419 or 07970146836.
